Melody & Musings: A baroque parlour concert

NZ Barok
NZ Barokexpand/collapse

Step back in time at Alberton with this intimate afternoon soirée in the ballroom, suitable for the whole family.  Players from NZ Barok - New Zealand's only period instrument orchestra - present an assortment of baroque musical gems with a touch of history in this light-hearted one hour concert.

Featuring music by Purcell, Vivaldi, Boyce, Sammartini and Bach, the programme has been curated with a general audience in mind and would be a lovely entrée for those unfamiliar with orchestral music. The players will introduce you to the Baroque style, its instruments and key composers, peppered with anecdotes from history.

Refreshments will be served on arrival and tickets include entry to the house (come along earlier to explore). Dress up and enjoy this midwinter treat!  Children welcome.

Performers: Graham McPhail (1st Violin), Fiona Haughton (2nd Violin), Alison Salmons (Viola), Helen Brinkman (Cello). The performers have generously donated their time in this fundraiser for Alberton and Heritage New Zealand.
