This historic place was registered under the Historic Places Act 1980. This report includes the text from the original Proposal for Classification report considered by the NZHPT Board at the time of registration. This school room was built in 1879, and is still in use as a school today. It remained as a single classroom until 1923. It was built on land donated by one of the early settlers. The building has had some modifications.
