This historic place was registered under the Historic Places Act 1980. This report includes the text from the original Proposal for Classification report considered by the NZHPT Board at the time of registration. This visually striking Gothic church was built in 1884, and is built of kauri. The interior is in excellent condition and is lined with timber panelling. The church has several stained glass windows commemorating early settlers. There has been an addition/modification on one end of the church, with an addition of a carport, and changes to windows at this end.
