This historic place was registered under the Historic Places Act 1980. This report includes the text from the original Proposal for Classification report considered by the NZHPT Board at the time of registration. This is a good example of a two storey bay villa of the late Victorian/Edwardian middle classes. It is distinguished by the high degree of originality of the interior, especially in the front 2/3 of the house. Fire surrounds, timber joinery, pressed metal ceilings, dado, and some light fittings are original, and the kitchen has its original match-lining, and a possibly original coal range.
