This historic place was registered under the Historic Places Act 1980. This report includes the text from the original Proposal for Classification report considered by the NZHPT Board at the time of registration. Ohuka Station Homestead is thought to have been built c1906 to the design of an Australian architect. It is a single storeyed Edwardian homestead with several bays, a complex gabled roof, a deep verandah and a picturesque setting. The interior is particularly fine with Art Nouveau foliated and floral stained glass windows, pressed metal ceilings and a wood panelled entrance foyer.
