This historic place was registered under the Historic Places Act 1980. This report includes the text from the original Proposal for Classification report considered by the NZHPT Board at the time of registration. Pinehill Farmhouse was built by a Mr Walker from c1877. He may have also designed the house. A rear lean-to was extended c1897-1900 and a single storey addition was made in 1981. The original portion of the farmhouse is a simply detailed two storeyed building which testifies to the beauty and durability of locally available limestone. The house demonstrates its colonial origins and at the same time has been adapted to meet the needs of its owners for over 100 years.
