Introducing the INTO Places Scheme

With Aotearoa New Zealand beginning to welcome back visitors and international travel on the cards once again, it is timely that we remind you about one of your most valuable membership benefits – free entry to heritage sites overseas.

Launching on 18 April, we are proud to be part of the new INTO Places scheme, which enables you to visit over 1,000 places overseas with your Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga membership card. To get you in the spirit, we’re sharing the promotional video prepared by INTO to showcase the scheme. Can you spot any of our heritage places in the video?

Taking your Membership Worldwide

Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga (HNZPT) has been hard at work with National Trusts and heritage organisations across the world to make your membership go further.  We’ve been collaborating directly with INTO – the International National Trusts Organisation – an umbrella body that oversees the global family of National Trusts and heritage organisations.

As part of its mission to ‘promote the conservation and enhancement of the heritage of all nations for the benefit of the people of the world and future generations’, INTO has developed a new reciprocal visiting scheme called INTO Places to be launched officially on April 18, 2022.

Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga extends complimentary admission to the members of other participating organisations – and in return we can offer you free entry to over a thousand amazing National Trust places around the world (in additional to organisations like English Heritage who we also have reciprocal arrangements with).

Your HNZPT membership card acts as a passport, opening doors and gates, porticos and porches across the world” said Dame Fiona Reynolds, Chair of INTO.

To support the INTO Places scheme, your HNZPT membership card will feature the scheme logo which will make it easier for overseas organisations to recognise your eligibility for the scheme.  This will happen gradually from May 2022 onwards as new cards are provided to members.

Information on where you can visit can be found on our website and is also available directly on the INTO website where there is an interactive map that links directly to all the Trusts involved.

You simply need to show a valid, current membership card to receive free* or discounted entry at sites operated by these partner organisations and enjoy this wonderful and highly advantageous new member benefit.

Happy travelling.

* Admission to special exhibits, tours and parking fees, if any, are typically NOT included in this offer.
