Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga staff, members of the local community and descendants of James Reddy Clendon gathered at Clendon House in Rawene recently to farewell long-serving Visitor Host Lindsay Charman.

Lindsay is retiring after a 25-year association with Clendon House.

Lindsay started out as a volunteer at Clendon House for a year, then took up the role with the then New Zealand Historic Places Trust.

“Lindsay is a gifted story teller and is renowned for bringing stories associated with James Reddy Clendon and Jane Clendon to life,” says HNZPT Manager Heritage Assets North, Natalie McCondach.

“Many visitors over the years have been absolutely enthralled by Lindsay’s korero, and he has made a huge contribution to heritage in Northland over the years.”
