Networking with Tohu Whenua partners in Ōtepoti Dunedin

The much admired Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga offices in Princes Street Ōtepoti, Dunedin, proved the perfect venue to kick off the summer season with our Tohu Whenua partners this month.

The networking event was attended by representatives from Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga, Department of Conservation Te Papa Atawhai and Kāti Huirapa Rūnaka ki Puketeraki, as well as managers from Tohu Whenua sites across Dunedin and North Otago including Larnach Castle, Olveston and Ōamaru’s Whitestone Civic Trust.

The evening provided a great opportunity to build connections between Tohu Whenua staff, site managers and partners.

Over refreshmetns, attendees brainstormed ways they could work together over the summer, what Tohu Whenua can do to support them, and how they can leverage off the Tohu Whenua brand. Claudia Babirat, Tohu Whenua’s marketing and communications contractor, gave a presentation on the 2022 summer marketing campaign ‘Our heritage is for our kids’ which was well received by all and generated great discussion.

Otago Regional Co-ordinator Jill Mitchell-Larrivee, who organised the event, stressed the value of bringing people together in this way. “Getting all those experienced and knowledgeable heads under one roof to chat without the pressure and structure of a meeting is invaluable.  We achieved what we set out to do and now have a template that can be used in other regions.”

The Tohu Whenua team looks forward to holding similar events around the motu.
