This historic place was registered under the Historic Places Act 1980. This report includes the text from the original Proposal for Classification report considered by the NZHPT Board at the time of registration. Former Katikati Library, Katikati The Katikati library was housed in a number of locations until this building was completed in 1913. It was built with publicly raised funds, and this together with its role as a social amenity, gives it local social significance. It served the district until a Memorial Hall was opened in 1954-5. The building is a small plain vernacular structure.
