The extent of registration is located on and includes part of the land described as Pt Lot 6 DP 388447(RT 353808), Canterbury Land District. It is focused on the pa site within the boundaries of the footpath to the south and west, Lake 8 to the northwest, the stone water feature (Lake 8 outflow into Tairutu Gully) to the north and Tairutu Gully to the east. Significant key features included within the extent are: the pa site, tauranga waka, Tairutu Gully, Tairutu Gully planting, the palisade fence, pou, waharoa and planting, all in-situ archaeology, the limestone boulders protecting burial sites and the seven koiwi interred within the wahi tapu
